Low-power tags usually commit to a single frequency band, trading range against data rate at design time. HILO shows that a tunnel-diode oscillator can be operated to serve two bands at once, a low band for long-range, robust links and a high band for higher throughput, while staying within a microwatt-scale power budget.
The work appears at the IEEE International Conference on RFID 2026.
